WARNING: KAYAKING IS ADDICTIVE!
Glasgow Kayak Club whitewater section is all about giving people skills to get on the water.
Over the years, Glasgow Kayak Club has created a brilliant community who all love to have a great time on the water. It would be fair to say we are the most popular club in Scotland. With a good sized group of active members, river trips take place almost every weekend and always include a healthy dose of banter, endless encouragement, and a shared love of pushing limits. It may sound cheesy, but we are a big kayaking family and our reputation for having great trips and brilliant camaraderie has attracted members from all over the country.
What makes us a great club?
We’re a brilliant club to learn & develop skills with. We have regular sessions at Pinkston Watersports - Scotland’s only artificial whitewater course - with a safe flat water basin to hone the basics. We’ve got great volunteer coaches, including winner of Scottish Canoe Association Coach of the Year 2023 and British Canoeing UK Coach of the Year (we know, right?), giving all the support needed to build your skills on the water.
We’re great value for money too…
We want to make kayaking as accessible as possible. An annual membership costs only £52 for adults and includes access to trips, boats, equipment and a lot of coaching, both structured and peer to peer. Club nights at Pinkston cost £12 a session, or we offer an annual “Pinkston Pass” at a bargain £11 per month (minimum 12 month subscription), giving access to 3 sessions a month. For less than the price of a Costa coffee you can have 90 minutes having fun, learn new skills, borrow boats and pushing your limits. A total steal!
Want to give it a try?
Here’s what to do. Our club nights run most Tuesdays (check the calendar).
You can come along to one of our Pinkston sessions and see if it’s for you without joining the club. Check the calendar and find a date you can come to.
Drop us a message with the form on the joining page if you’d like to try a session.
At the session we’ll sort you with a boat, paddle and all the safety gear you need. Just bring a towel and shoes you don’t mind getting wet.
Read more here about what to expect when you come along.
If you want to join the club, you can find out all the info and sign up here.
PINKSTON CLUB SESSIONS
We run sessions 3 times a month at Pinkston Water Sports - Scotland’s only artificial Whitewater course. Tuesdays 7pm -8.30pm
RIVER TRIPS
You’ll soon learn to look forward to rain! We run regular club trips (most weekends, weather permitting) and joining will also open up a “network” of paddlers who arrange peer paddles.
POOL SESSIONS
In the winter we host indoor pool sessions, perfect for getting to grips with the dark art of rolling. Also great for practicing freestyle tricks and generally getting comfortable being upside down!
